Diva JC to rock Hope Gardens on February 26

Renowned singer, songwriter, composer, author and historian Joan Cartwright will be the special guest performer for Blues on the Green, the U.S. Embassy’s annual African American History Month Concert which pays homage to the enormous contributions of African-Americans to the musical genre of the blues.

Blues on the Green is scheduled for Friday, February 26th, at the historic Hope Gardens and, as usual, the concert is free and open to the public.  Blues on the Green will also see performances from talented Jamaicans Maurice Gordon and his group, the Mohjarock Band, as well as singers Maria Myrie, Gawaine Campbell and Jermaine Blake.

U.S. Embassy moves to paperless visa system as of March 24

The U.S. Embassy in Kingston announces that as of Wednesday, March 24, 2010 it will accept only online visa applications, doing away with the paper-based forms familiar to applicants.  On March 24, use of the new form becomes mandatory and the U.S. Embassy will no longer accept printed DS-156 nonimmigrant visa applications.  Form DS-160, the new electronic form, will be available on the embassy’s website (http://kingston.usembassy.gov) beginning Thursday, March 4, 2010 for optional use by applicants.  Applicants are encouraged to begin using the new DS-160 form as soon as it becomes available.

The Small Business Association of Jamaica (SBAJ) has elected a new Board of Directors,  at the Association's 35th Annual General Meeting on July 29, 2009. This new Board will govern the operations of the SBAJ for the administrative year July 2009 - July 2010. The new team is headed by veteran Mr. Dalma James.
